Mobile Marketing


Advertising on a mobile device can be seen as quite effective due to how many of us use our phones daily. You can advertise a lot of relevant things on a mobile device including games, however advertising mobile games and apps are more effective and overall seem to be the better idea as the user is already using their device and may show interest in your product. It would then be as simple as heading to the device’s app store or other site that you would download the game or app from.

There are multiple ways advertising can be tackled on mobile, one that was discussed previously is Display Media Adverts. In this case, an in-app display media advert would take the form of a pop-up ad or a banner, but can also use methods such as video advertisement. Video advertising, as an example, is very commonly seen on sites such as YouTube, you’ll click on a video and before it starts you are likely to get an advert playing. Users however are typically less likely to watch a longer advert and would often use the ‘skip ad’ feature if provided, therefore having a short but effective ad or opening of an ad o keep the viewer interested would be ideal. (Haran, 2020)

Another method for advertising new things is push notifications. Often you will open an app or game for the first time and it will ask you about these. Push notifications can be useful to your product when done effectively, through making said notification meaningful with desired information or even personalisation. This method should use an opt-in, opt-out system where the user can change their mind. Allowing a user time to use the product before asking may also help with this methods endeavours as a user may enjoy the product and decide that they do want notifications for the product after all.
